"Welcome to the MTC"

Hola!!

"Welcome to the MTC" I heard those words literally about 1000 times within my first 5 minutes of being here. I had just sad goodbye to my family and I was crying and stressed and excited and confused and all I wanted was some personal space for like 2 minutes, but nope. Everyone just had to get in my face and "welcome" me instead. oh well, that just shows how loving everyone is here!

The MTC is so awesome!! My companion is Hermana Johnson from Spokane Washington, I love her!! We get along so well and I'm so blessed that she is my companion. We both have the same favorite fruit (cantaloupe), we both love the movie "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and we both had the same fear of being called to Russia. We like to do most things the same which is so nice. Except she doesn't like to take naps on pday so that is a game changer for me, but i"ll learn to live without that.

There are 14 people in my district and we are the ONLY sisters. because of that, we don't really have any other friends haha, but at least we have each other! so far we haven't gotten sick of each other, I'll keep you updated if that changes. Everyone in my district is going to my same mission except 3 elders are going to Honduras, and one elder is going to Guatemala. Hermana Johnson was also called to Nicaragua at first, and then reassigned to Costa Rica. Everyone else in the district was originally called to Costa Rica.

Learning Spanish is TOUGH. I am so bad at pronouncing words in Spanish, I'm not kidding. When we memorize things in Spanish, I can always remember the word but my tongue physically cannot say it correctly :'D my companion has to remind me over and over and over again how to pronounce it. She took 3 years of Spanish in high school and apparently she actually learned a lot (imagine that). Once again I'm lucky to have her! But I love learning Spanish!!! For the short time I've been here, I have learned so much, and I learn more things everyday. It feels so good to be able to be challenged and see my progression!

Right now the MTC is completely full to capacity. There are missionaries everywhere. We have to wait in long lines to get food, there's hardly anywhere to sit, and we are always bumping into people in the hallways. But I LOVE IT and I wouldn't want it any other way. I love that while I'm waiting in line I can meet SO many different kinds of people from different areas in the world, serving in different areas of the world. The most amazing thing is that we all have the same purpose. Me and Hermana Johnson sit by new people every day and get to know them. it is amazing, I think I've meet people serving in all 435 missions already. (jk but it's gotta be pretty close) I love to see everyone's faith in missionary work.

I have loved my first 3 days as a missionary, it can be exhausting and hard sometimes but it is so rewarding!!  love you all!!

love,
Hermana HIll
