one year or one month?
As of yesterday, I have hit my one month mark! honestly, this has been the longest month of my life haha, but it has also been so amazing and I have learned so much. I am in complete shock that in 1 week and 2 days I'll be on a plane to Costa Rica! The MTC has been so amazing, I'm scared to leave my safe little spiritual bubble here, but I'm getting so excited to be thrown in the real world and tell everyone that god loves them (that's about all I can say in spanish.) This week Ana committed to baptism! yay! To clarify, the people we teach here in the MTC are actually most of the time members of our church, but they act as nonmembers. I'm pretty positive Ana is a member but it was still so fun to teach her!
This week Hermana Johnson and I decided to do an "English fast." so for a whole day, we weren't allowed to speak in English. Well I definitely overestimated my spanish abilities because it basically lead to me just not talking the whole day haha. I was feeling a little defeated. But then in a devotional the speaker said this: "you were not called to master your language, you were called to serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength." so amazing! I have realized that as a missionary, there is only so much I can do. As long and I work as hard as I possibly can, Christ will make up the rest. Even though my spanish may be horrible, I know that I can still be a good missionary, and serve God and others with all my heart.
love,
hermana hill
*Excerpt from letter to parents:
Ana is doing well! she is from columbia. Yes, we have to write talks for sacrament meetings but they don't say who is speaking until after the sacrament... scary! so far I haven't had to but they usually have the people who are leaving soon speak, so there is a high chance I will have to this sunday or next, and me and hermana johnson are teaching relief society this week! My day usually goes like this 6:30 wake up, get ready, breakfast, 30 min personal study. 8;30 - 11:30 class. 11:30 lunch and more personal study 1:30-4:30 class 4:30-6:30 dinner plus language study 6:30-7:30 exercise 7:30-9:30 more language study/comp study/ plan lessons 9:30-10:30- get ready for bed/write in journal. Sunday's and Tuesday's are different because we have devotionals but that's the basic gist! I write in my journal around 3 times a week. I got my flight plans yesterday, I'll forward them to you. I'm actually a little terrified, but I'm excited, I'll all be okay.
Yes I have seen both portraits of Boone as Nephi in the MTC!! He's famous around here. I tell everyone that he is my cousin and then I'm famous.
