baptismmmm

Javier was baptized this week! Unfortunately his son Anthony wasn't baptized with him. Long story, but basically we needed permission from Anthony's mom because Javier is divorced. Luckily she is actually super supportive! But Anthony isn't sure if he wants to get baptized so we're just giving him a little more time and hopefully he will want to soon!

With Javier's baptism, I've learned that sometimes we complicate the gospel and the process of baptism way too much. We focus on all the little reasons why someone can't get baptized. Javier doesn't have a perfect knowledge of the gospel... like at all. But the thing is that he has faith in Christ and he is willing to change. With those 2 things, I believe that anyone can get baptized.

This week one of our investigadores texted us and was like "I have received my answer." we were so pumped and we were like "heck yeah he knows the church is true" but when we showed up, turns out his "answer" was from the internet and he went off about all the bad things about joseph smith and blah blah blah. Honestly, I had never felt so strongly about my testimony before that moment as I was defending Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. We bore our testimonies, and told him that our "answer" came from god, because we have prayed about it, whereas his "answer" came from the internet. Honestly as we left I felt the spirit so strongly and I knew that we had done our part. Maybe we planted a seed and one day he will come to accept the gospel.

On the bright side, Giovany still LOVES the gospel haha. This week after a lesson with him, he was like "can I help you guys preach the word of God?" and he showed us around his neighborhood and introduced us to all his friends and he brought a friend with him to church! he is golden!!! Because everyone is asking. Here is a little backround on Giovany. He is probably in his 40s and he has 5 kids and he is divorced. In fact, he really wants to bring his kids to church but sadly he doesn't have enough money to pay for the bus for all of them. Butttttt he is searching for a job so hopefully in the future his kids can come to church too!

Exciting things happening here in Poas!

adios!
