What an amazing week! The other day we found 2 guys just chilling outside their house and we went and talked to them. Their names are Jose y Harvin and they are from Nicaragua. Turns out Harvin is a member! 7 years ago he had his mission call, decided not to go and then later left the church completely. Long story short, they came to church and loved it! I was worried because it was all about indexing and honestly I was even bored jaja! But later they told us that they felt like church was too SHORT! wow it's amazing how the spirit can touch people's hearts. Later Jose told us he wants to get baptized! AND Harvin wants to be an active member again!! It was honestly a miracle!
We also found another one of their friends who listened to missionaries when he was like 14 and always went to mutual and said the elders were his best friends, and the ward was his second family... he also wants to come to church!! WOW.
Okay here's another miracle. A few weeks ago we talked to someone named Josue in the street. He said we could visit him and share a message and then he was like "Yeah I'll come to church too! Maybe I'll even become a Mormon!" We were like heck yeah. Later we had a lesson with him and some members and it went so well! But we lost contact with him after. His phone number wasn't working, and he was living in the streets so we didn't know where to find him. BUTTTTT yesterday he showed up to church in a nice suit and everything!!! He was like "hey guys I got a new phone number, I found a job, and I found an apartment. When are you going to teach me more?" ahhh it was so awesome.
Here's a fun fact. Our cook is from Nicaragua, her parents were the 16th and 18th people to ever get baptized in the whole country of Nicaragua! (about 55-60 years ago) When she was 21 they took out all the missionaries from Nicaragua due to a ton of violence but there was a ton of investigadores waiting to get baptized. So they asked her to serve a mission in her OWN WARD. She literally served a mission and lived in her same house and would go out and preach in her own ward all day long with her neighbor who was her companion! She is an amazing woman! Her mom is 100 years old and still living!
Also the Nicaragua Managua North mission is open! The South mission (the one I was called to) is still closed due to violence. But I love Costa Rica and I am so happy to be here and I have met a ton of Nicaraguans so its okay :)
I love being a missionary so much. It's such an rewarding experience! I know that after a lot of work we can see miracles!
